Today, there are many different options for discrete orthodontic treatment. The two most popular options are Invisalign and 3M Clarity Aligners. Both use clear plastic aligners to slowly shift your teeth into the desired, straight position for a beautiful, functional smile. Our offices in Stillwater and Woodbury offer both options for patients seeking a less noticeable orthodontic treatment. At Henseler & Kocian Orthodontics, we believe orthodontic care should be individualized and that there is never a "one size fits all" method.

3M Clarity Aligners Explained

The basics of 3M Clarity Aligners are quite similar to that of Invisalign. You need to wear the aligners consistently in order to complete your orthodontic treatment effectively, and they can be removed to brush, floss, eat, and drink. However, the initial planning that goes into the 3M Clarity aligners uses a different software than Invisalign.

Part of the power of the 3M Clarity System is the advanced computer software that enables it. Our Woodbury and Stillwater orthodontists are able to use an intra-oral scanner to create a 3D compu

termodel of your bite without the need for impressions. Then, we use the software's powerful predictive algorithms to plan out your treatment in detail, visualizing every stage of tooth movement right on the

screen. The 3M Clarity Aligners’ computer software lets us reliably plan your treatment and tooth movement in detail.

Invisalign Broken Down

Although fairly similar, the process for Invisalign differs slightly from 3M Clarity Aligners. Initially, your Stillwater orthodontist will create a 3D computer model of your teeth that will be used to create a personalized treatment plan with customized sets of Invisalign aligners. You will be given a set of aligners every two weeks to gently shift your teeth to a straighter position. Additionally, Invisalign has two different product lines — one for adults (the original Invisalign) and one for teens. Invisalign Teen has been made specifically with teenagers at the center and includes its own set of advantages for teens looking for a discrete braces option.

Which Option Will You Choose?

Our Woodbury and Stillwater Orthodontists will walk you through both options and together, you can decide which orthodontic treatment plan is best for you.
